Rackmount LCD Monitors Explained

While there are different types of Rackmount LCD Monitor they all serve the same purpose: to save space in the rack. There are many different variations to the Rackmount Monitor to allow you to pick the one that will fit your situation the best. Here is a breakdown of the different type of Rackmount Monitors you can get:

Rackmount LCD Panel
This type serves the purpose of just being a monitor in your rack. It is screwed into the front of the rack and only takes up a few inches of depth but it does take 6-8U's (Rack Units) of space. This is ideal if you just  need to add a monitor to a rack for monitoring of a system and vertical space is not of major importance. You can store things behind the monitor as long as you do not need easy access to them. We carry two models on this style and they are 17" (7U), 19" (8U), and 20" (9U) screens.

Folding Rackmount LCD Monitors
These models allow you to save vertical rack space by putting a 17", 19", or 20" monitor into 1U of space. This is a great solution when you need a monitor in a rack but do not have the extra space to spare. They slide out for easy access and connect to a standard VGA port.

These allow you to control a computer or KVM Switch from a single console that takes up 1U or 2U of rack space. They come with a 105 key keyboard that is approximately the same size of a regular keyboard. Some models come with a touchpad similar to a laptop or with a trackball. These models are available with 17", 19" and 20" screens.

The added bonus of having a built in KVM Switch allows you to centrally control 8-16 computers all from this single console that only takes up 1U or 2U of rack space. You have the option of getting an 8-Port KVM Switch or a 16-Port KVM Switch that fits in the console itself so it does not take up any additional rack space. The KVM control is through the console itself so there are not any push-buttons to change computers. Centralized access allows for easy control. They come with a 105 key keyboard that is approximately the same size of a regular keyboard. Some models come with a touchpad similar to a laptop or with a trackball. These models are available with 17", 19", and 20" screens.
Rackmount LCD Monitors make life easier for anyone that needs to access systems in a rack but need to save space. The added convenience of an LCD Monitor makes the picture very clear and easy to work with. The units weight anywhere from 30-50 lbs and are meant to be mounted in any 19" 4-Post rack but have been used in 2-Post racks as well.
